Major Ryan A. Hansen

Major Ryan A. Hansen is the Assistant Operations Officer and Education Officer for the Air Force ROTC Detachment 925, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Wisconsin. As the Assistant Operations Officer and Education Officer, he plays a crucial role in shaping the development of future Air Force officers through effective training and leadership.
Maj Hansen graduated from University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in 2004, and was commissioned in 2009 through Officers Training School, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama, as a Distinguished Graduate. He earned his Combat Systems Officer wings in 2010 from the 562nd Formal Training Unit, Randolph AFB, Texas, as a Distinguished Graduate. Following graduation, he served as an Electronic Combat Officer on the EC-130H Compass Call with the 43rd Electronic Combat Squadron in Tucson, Arizona, from 2010 to 2016. During this period, he distinguished himself as an instructor and evaluator, deploying four times to Iraq and Afghanistan as an aircrew member and Electronic Warfare Liaison Officer to a Joint Regional Task Force. Building on his experience with the Army, he was selected for the role of Air Liaison Officer with the 7th Air Support Operations Squadron. In this capacity, he deployed to Kuwait and Syria as a Joint Terminal Attack Controller and Strike Cell Commander, providing Close Air Support for a Special Operations Task Force.
Subsequently, Maj Hansen assessed into the 6th Special Operations Squadron as a Combat Aviation Advisor in 2019. In this role, he trained and advised by, with, and through foreign aviation forces in the Middle East and South America, fostering strategic partnerships in support of USSOCOM objectives. In 2024, Maj Hansen arrived in Madison, WI to teach and mold young cadets at AFROTC Det 925. His distinctive career trajectory has endowed him with extensive experience, equipping him with a unique perspective and skill set that he is enthusiastic about imparting to the next generation of Air Force leaders.
